In the face of Haiti’s tumultuous political landscape, rampant gang-related activities, and persistent civil unrest, Haiti National Trust remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the nation’s rich biodiversity. Despite the myriad challenges, the organization’s dedicated teams continue to work tirelessly to restore, preserve, and protect Haiti’s natural wonders.
Operating in such a volatile environment is not without its difficulties. However, our dedicated teams are undeterred, venturing into the field daily to ensure that our objectives are met. With a focus on Grand Bois National Park, our nurseries thrive with native and endemic species, providing the foundation for our reforestation efforts.
Central to our operations are the approximately 90 daily workers we employ each month, with 30 to 40% being women. These individuals hail from local communities, relying on this work not only as a source of income but also as a means of preserving the ecological wonders that surround them.
The urgency of our work cannot be overstated. While political and socioeconomic issues may fluctuate, the destruction of biodiversity knows no boundaries and its irreversible consequences are far-reaching. We refuse to let the fate of Haiti’s natural heritage be determined by external factors beyond our control.
At Haiti National Trust, we firmly believe that the time to act is now. Our commitment to a greener tomorrow is unwavering, and we strive to lead by example, demonstrating the power of unity in the face of adversity. As our national motto declares, “L’union fait la force” (unity is our strength), and together with local communities, we forge ahead towards a brighter future.
However, our efforts cannot succeed without the support of generous donors who understand the critical importance of our work. We appeal to our supporters to consider contributing to our cause, as every donation plays a pivotal role in sustaining our vital conservation efforts.
We invite you to follow us on Instagram for regular updates on our activities and to join us in our mission to preserve Haiti’s natural treasures for generations to come. Together, we can make a difference, ensuring that Haiti’s biodiversity remains a source of pride and inspiration for all.
